Archabout is an architectural research platform dedicated to practice-led and interdisciplinary research in architecture, heritage and spatial practice. The platform explores architecture as a cultural and civic discipline, engaging with heritage environments, urban contexts and contemporary spatial experiences.
Through architectural design research, spatial interventions and digital methodologies, Archabout develops research that contributes to academic discourse while generating public and cultural impact. The platform collaborates with universities, museums and cultural institutions to deliver projects aligned with research excellence and impact agendas in architecture and the built environment.
Archabout is co-founded by Maurizio Crocco and Andrea Moneta, and operates as a flexible research environment supporting funded projects, international collaborations and REF-aligned research outputs.

CEO and Co-founder of Archabout, Maurizio is an architect and academic with a longstanding career in research developed in the fields of architectural design, urban design at the University of Rome “La Sapienza” and at the university of Naples “Federico II”. He is involved in activities of Study, Research and Didactic Seminar since 1990. The main topics of his professional and research activity are focused on the principles of ecological design: the relations between architecture and town, the dynamics of transformation, the identity and exploitation of historical specificity and European urban realities, environmental design, sustainable building design.

Andrea Moneta is an ARB-registered architect and senior academic specialising in architectural research, heritage and spatial practice. His work is grounded in architecture as a cultural and civic discipline, with a particular focus on heritage environments, urban contexts and the design of meaningful public and performative spaces.
His research adopts a practice-led and interdisciplinary approach, integrating architectural design with methodologies drawn from scenography and digital environments. Within this framework, he developed Scenarchitecture as a research methodology for investigating physical, social and relational space, extending architectural enquiry across urban, heritage and digitally mediated environments.
Andrea has extensive experience in research leadership, architectural education and international collaboration. He is currently a Senior Lecturer at Nottingham Trent University (UK), where he contributes to research in architecture, heritage and spatial practice, alongside curriculum leadership and doctoral research activity.
